Thanks to a grant from the Illinois State Library, we are now offering Chromebooks to WPLD cardholders! Job-seek from the comfort and safety of home, complete schoolwork, stream movies from our downloadable libraries, or play online games! Our Chromebooks may also be used like a tablet with the flip of the touch screen. The library currently has 10 (soon to be 20) Chromebooks to lend.
These devices follow similar rules as our Hotspots (which can also be checked-out, if you don’t already have internet):
- One-week check-out, with NO Renewals – $2.00/day late fee!
- Device will be shutdown remotely if more than 5 days late.
- User agreement must be signed before lending.
- Chromebooks available to Wilmington Public Library patrons ONLY.
- Chromebooks MUST be returned to a staff member inside the library. Please DO NOT RETURN THEM VIA THE OUTDOOR BOOK DROP! BRING THEM INSIDE TO A STAFF MEMBER!
A word of warning… Just like our public computers inside the library, these machines do not save user information. Once the Chromebook shuts off, any work saved to the device itself, and not a Google drive or flash drive, will be lost. If you don’t have a Google account set up, you can sign on as a guest.
