We are still requiring masks for entry to the library. If you choose not to wear one, we can still provide curb-side service upon request, or put your items in The Drop.
We continue to provide take-home crafts, and are beginning to slowly add in-person events, pending County and State Covid status/mandates. Please call to confirm before attending in-person events, especially if there are weather concerns.
The Covid testing continues at the Lion’s facility; please see the Wilmington Library Facebook page or Wilmington, IL Community page for their current date and times.
Normal hours:
Monday through Thursday 9am to 8pm,
Friday and Saturday 9 am to 5pm, and
Sunday noon to 5pm.
Be well, and see you soon!
Update: 11/11/2020
Several Libraries in the area are moving to curbside service (Limestone, Bradley, Bourbonnais and Kankakee) starting tomorrow. The Wilmington Public Library is remaining open to in-person browsing for as long as we can but will go back to reduced hours and small team staffing for the safety of staff and patrons. Many neighboring school systems are moving to online learning. Below is an article which will link to many who have already made the announcements. We recommend calling places before you go.
New Hours effective 11-11-2020 are as following:
Monday thru Saturday 9 am to 5 pm and
Sunday 12 to 5 pm.
We encourage curbside and locker pickup as a safe option.
Be safe Wilmington!

- Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday and Saturday 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM

Update: 04/28 Due in part to the current Stay-at-Home order announced 4/25 the library will remain closed until further notice. We are in the process of investigating how to provide some levels of service as soon as we can but are awaiting guidelines from the Illinois State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences on safe practices for circulating materials during this crisis. We are anxious to reopen but must be certain we can do so in the safest possible way for both patrons and staff. Thank you for your patience.

Dear Library Patrons, Closing the library is an extraordinarily difficult decision that we have made only because of these extraordinary circumstances. The health and safety of our patrons and staff is our first priority. Early actions to increase social distancing are the best way to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to the CDC. We feel that closing the library is the best way to protect the health of our community at this time. While we are closed, we will carry out extra cleaning and disinfecting of the building. We will stop charging all overdue fines during the shutdown and extend due dates on all currently checked out materials automatically as needed. There is no need to return anything while we are closed. Just stay home and enjoy! However, the book drop will be open for anyone who wishes to drop things off. You can also continue to use the library without visiting by downloading eBooks; listening to downloadable and streaming audiobooks; streaming movies and TV shows; streaming music; reading digital comics, newspapers, and magazines; taking online classes; and much more. Browse our website for information about checking out online materials. www.wilmingtonlibrary.org Stay connected with us as we update information on our Website and Facebook page for more ideas for things to do with your library card, and ways to stay healthy and happy during this complicated time.
